ESTIMATOR

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Estimator will be responsible for analyzing tenders, determining the quantities of materials required for construction projects, and assisting in the preparation of bids. He/She must be a team player, contributing to the company’s growth while sharing ideas and vision.

More specifically, the Estimator will be expected to:

  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and contract conditions to identify risks and opportunities;

  • Perform quantitative estimates of materials and labor for construction work;

  • Extract and prepare detailed quantity take-offs based on plans and specifications, organized by trade;

  • Invite subcontractors to bid and, when required, send them the necessary documents;

  • Analyze all bids received from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with tender requirements during bid compilation and closing;

  • Participate in and/or manage bid closings;

  • Take part in contract negotiations and in the preparation of project schedules;

  • Contribute to the development and improvement of estimation tools;

  • Stay up to date with new construction technologies and methods;

  • Develop execution scenarios and ensure material availability;

  • Conduct site visits for projects under tender;

  • Apply quality system standards, ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and internal procedures;

  • Play a key role in the company’s performance and profitability;

  • Apply the organization’s quality program;

  • Build and maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders, particularly suppliers, distributors, and subcontractors;

  • Act as an ambassador for the RIOUX brand and all its divisions;

  • Perform any other related tasks.

Your experience and skills include:

  • College diploma in Estimating, a Bachelor’s degree in Construction, or equivalent experience;

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role;

  • Knowledge of Constructbuy, SAGE, REVIT, and AutoCAD software (an asset);

  • Strong skills in reading plans and specifications;

  • Ability to estimate complex projects;

  • Professional attitude and behavior (autonomy, integrity, and confidence);

  • Strong organizational skills, initiative, and leadership;

  • Ability to manage stress, adapt, and make decisions;

  • Ability to work within tight deadlines;

  • Operational rigor and intellectual curiosity;

  • Strong communication skills (written and oral) in French and English;

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.

Employment conditions:

  • Full-time position (40 hours/week), Monday to Friday.

  • Salary based on experience and skills.

  • Workplace: Remote.

  • Occasional travel to the Matane head office may be required a few times per year, depending on availability.
